Generac Pinion, Wt1 353991

I absolutely loved by k10 log splitter for the 4 years i've had it. It handled everything I laid on it and worked great. BUT this year the rack finally stripped some teeth. 4 years of use is reasonable, so I ordered a new rack. within hours the teeth were stripped. it was replaced at no charge. I decided to replace the pinion in case it was worn and causing the rack teeth to strip. I compared the new and old one and saw only very minor wear. I installed it and the new replacement rack and followed the handle and belt adjustment instructions to the letter. Within hours the rack teeth are stripping. Apparently the quality control for the hardness of the replacement parts is lacking. After years of highly recommending this splitter to personal friends and social medial followers I am truly sad to say that the splitter or its parts are no longer recommended. If the rack lasted another 4 years, I would have happily paid double what they charge for it.
